As a food reviewer for Foodjoyy, I am always on the lookout for exceptional dining experiences, and Raku did not disappoint. The variety on the menu is impressive, showcasing a range of traditional Japanese dishes that cater to all tastes. One of the highlights is their Chicken and Vegetables Udon Soup, which captures the essence of Japanese comfort food with its rich, flavorful broth and generous portions. It’s no wonder that frequent diners rave about it!
The Pork Gyoza deserves special mention as well. These delightful dumplings are pan-fried to perfection, with a crispy exterior that gives way to a savory filling. Pair it with some Edamame to round out your meal, and you’ve got a fantastic appetizer that can easily set the stage for a memorable dinner.

Another standout is the Salmon Bento Box. Priced reasonably at just $23, it features not only a generous piece of perfectly cooked salmon but also a full serving of gyoza and sushi, ensuring you leave fully satisfied. It’s hard to find such quality for the price in NYC, making Raku a go-to spot for an upscale yet affordable dining experience.

“ This place is a fantastic Japanese restaurant! Raku offers a wide variety of delicious Japanese dishes! Definitely try the Chicken and Vegetables Udon Soup , Edamame, Pork Gyoza , and sushi - everything here is great and portions are really big! Service is very fast and staff is super welcoming and professional! I wish I came here more often! ”
“ This place has the best miso soup I've ever had! The sushi was great, and the katsudon was DELICIOUS. Service was friendly, and I went between 9 & 10 pm, so it was very quiet. ”
“ Just got a salmon bento box from Raku. The food was delicious and the portions were huge. Whole meal was only 23. Usually for a bento box you think maybe 2 or 3 pieces of sushi 2 or 3 gyoza and a medium size piece of fish. Not here. A full order of Gyoza and sushi and a massive piece of salmon. Everything tasted fresh and the salmon was perfectly cooked. Good price for a quality dinner in the city. ”
“ I've been to both this location and the other location on UWS (if they're the same) and enjoyed both my experiences. The food was good and the portions were pretty large. I think the service was okay, not stellar but I would still say definitely above average for NYC. The prices are more than reasonable for the amount of food you get and tasty. ”
“ Fine place to get all sorts of Japanese food. I've stuck to just the basic sushi and I've had several rolls from here. Everything has been fresh, properly dressed, and as expected from such a place in NYC. I would say I think I'd take the cut rolls over the handrolls going forward. Nothing wrong with their preparation, but its easier to eat in the cut format. -Honey Roasted Peanut Avocado Roll -cucumber roll -Philadelphia Hand Roll -California Tempura Roll -Spicy Scallop Roll -Crazy roll (tuna , salmon, yellowtail , avocado seaweed outside) The edamame is also fine, but its hard to mess that up. I will have to try the Ramen as the weather cools down. ”
“ Ive only ever ordered from Seamless here and every time its been fresh and delicious. I order he sushi for two which is a good amount of sushi for two people or if its only you, you won't be hungry after! Also its the best value in the area for a sushi for 2 and its fresh! It comes with two miso soups and ginger and wasabi and soy sauce! ”
“ Stayed in New York for four days and this was honestly my favorite meal of the trip. Very chill spot, good service, and great food! 10/10 would definitely recommend ”
“ I lived in Hawaii for over 5 years and I have to say that this is by far the closest affordable sushi in terms of quality to what I had available to me out there. The best in the area. The millionaire roll and Shrek roll were my favorites and the sashimi is tough to beat for the price! ”
